Manteno board of trustees considers reports at meeting

The Village of Manteno board of trustees met at 7 p.m. Monday, June 20.

Members of the Manteno board of trustees are elected at-large for four-year, overlapping terms. The board serves as the legislative body of the village, adopting ordinances and resolutions, which become village law.

The meeting was called to order by the President, and upon the roll call being called, President Timothy O. Nugent, led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Crockett, seconded by Dole, to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the Regular Meeting minutes from June 6, 2016. Motion approved 6-0.

Reports of Village Officials:

Village President’s Report: Tim Nugent

• The Manteno Veterans Home will be having a 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War on July 9, 2016 at 9 am. There will be a celebration to honor and thank those that have served.

• It was a beautiful night for the golf cart parade and Music on Main. There were around 50 golf carts that participated and hundreds of people for music on main.

Committee Reports:

Village of Manteno Board Meeting- June 20, 2016

Public Works and Utilities- Boyce

• Consideration re: A motion to award the bid for the 2016 MFT Street Maintenance Program to Kankakee Valley Construction Company, Kankakee, IL, at a cost not to exceed $311,187.79. The bids came in a little higher than expected so will have to trim down the streets repaired to meet the budget. They will complete the worst streets first. Mayor Nugent asked that they be done before school starts August 16. (C-#1)

Parks and Recreation- Martin

- Farmers Market Thursdays from 4-7. June 23 will be a shred day at the Farmers Market from 4:30-6:30.

- Party in the Park Sunday, July 3 from 5pm-dusk

- The next Parks and Recreation meeting will be July 20 at 7 pm- meet at Wright Park first at 6:30.

• Public Safety and Health- Dole

• The next Public Safety meeting will be June 22 at 7 am.

• Sr Safety Program will be June 21 from 9-11 on Memory Care.

• Leave fireworks to the professionals. Don’t use at home.

• Movie in the Park , Little Rascals will be July 1.

• Watch for elderly in the heat, don’t forget to lock your cars and take valuables with you.

Planning and Zoning- Crockett

• The next Planning and Zoning Committee meeting is July 21 at 7 am.

• The next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will be July 12 at 6 pm.

Finance-Gesky

• Payment of the bills in the amount of $101,346.02(TIF #1 Bills of $5,442.68) (D-#1)

• The next Finance meeting will be June 14 at 7 am.

General Government-Phillips

• None

1. Consideration re: Motion to approve payment of the bills in the amount of

$101,346.025(TIF #1 Bills of $5,442.68)

Motion by Boyce, seconded by Crockett to approve a single role call vote on the question of passage of agenda items. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Phillips, seconded by Gesky, to approve by an omnibus vote those ordinances, resolutions, motions and orders contained on the consent agenda. Motion approved 6-0.

Comments:

Trustee Boyce: Great turnout or music on main.

Trustee Gesky: None

Trustee Crockett: None

Trustee Dole: The Senior picnic for July 9 cancelled.

Trustee Martin: None

Trustee Phillips:None

President Nugent: Hope to see a lot of people at the Party in the Park- Sunday, July 3 from 5pm-dusk.

There will be vendors, bands, and fireworks.

Motion by Martin, seconded by Boyce to adjourn the meeting at 7:17 pm. Motion approved 6-0.
