New Village of Chebanse Board met Jan. 21.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Mayor Mathy called the regular Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm and announced that the Village would be taping and Kathy Washington from the Advocate would be taking notes.
The following Trustees were present: Trustee Beherns, Trustee Kohler, Trustee Odle, Trustee Perzee, Trustee Randles and Trustee Snyder. Also present were Mayor Mathy, Clerk Pasel and James Smith from Maintenance.

APPROVAL OF REGULAR MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve the December 17, 2018 regular Village Board meeting minutes. Vote:

STERLING CODIFIERS: Attorney Hiatt has finished his review of the Village codes. After we submit any ordinances that have been passed after Ordinance No. 17-04, it will be ready for publication.

NEW BUSINESS:
TRUCKS IDLING: Trustee Snyder informed the board that a resident approached him concerning trucks idling on commercial property. It seems to have been an isolated incident. If the idling becomes a problem, the Board will review the ordinance.
131 & 161 N. LOCUST: Mayor Mathy will call Brian concerning the definition of Planned Development District. Mayor Mathy asked the board their thoughts on charging for the sewer debt service on both lots. Since there are two lots, with two hook ups, do we charge for both or only one. James stated that Shawn’s intentions are to make it one lot for a warehouse. The Board would like more details before they make a decision. Mayor Mathy will ask Shawn to attend the next meeting to answer any questions.
AUDIT QUOTE: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Beherns to approve Groskreutz, Abraham, Eshleman and Gerretse as the Villages new auditors. Vote:

KANKAKEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT: A motion was made by Trustee
Snyder and a second by Trustee Beherns to approve $55.00 per hour for 20 hours of patrolling the Village and eliminating Sunday mornings. Vote:

WATER TOWER: Mayor Mathy informed the Board that Greg Gustafson contacted him concerning maintenance on the water tower. Trustee Beherns stated that he would look into the maintenance and report to the board.
CHEBANSE CARE GROUP: Mayor Mathy stated that Chebanse Elementary is considering not having a spring carnival this year but instead having a Color Run. The route would be one mile starting at the Civic Center, down First South to School Street, to Evergreen to Walnut and then back to the Civic Center. The Board does not have a problem closing the roads for the color run on May 5 2019 from noon to 4.
COMMUNICATIONS: Mayor Mathy read a thank you letter from the Fraternal Order of Police for the donation to Shop with a Cop event.
