Village of Chebanse Village Board met May 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Mathy called the regular Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm and announced that the Village would be taping and Kathy Washington from the Advocate would be taking notes.

The following Trustees were present: Trustee Beherns, Trustee Kohler, Trustee Odle, Trustee Perzee, Trustee Randles and Trustee Snyder. Also present were Mayor Mathy, Clerk Pasel, Attorney Hiatt and James Smith from Maintenance.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Mathy

APPROVAL OF REGULAR MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve the April 15, 2019 Village Board meeting minutes. Vote:

OATH OF OFFICE: Mayor Mathy Perzee, Trustee Randles and Trustee Kohler

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

STERLING CODIFIERS: Mayor Mathy informed the Board that the Code Books are here and available to anyone that wants to look at it. Trustee Beherns asked what the process was to keep the book up to date. Clerk Pasel responded that she would send each new ordinance in as it was passed. She would speak with Sterling to find out what the entire process is and report back to the Board.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: NONE

REPORT OF VILLAGE OFFICERS: James informed the Board that all of the locks and

padlocks to the buildings and lift stations have been changed and re-keyed.

ORDINANCE NO. 19-02 APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Perzee to approve Ordinance No 19-02 – An Ordinance Making Appropriations For Corporate and Other Purposes of the Village of Chebanse, Illinois for Fiscal Year Ending April 30, 2020. Vote:

ORDINANCE NO. 19-04 DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY TO BE SURPLUS PROPERTY AN AUTHORIZING THE SALE THEREOF: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Beherns to approve Ordinance No.l9-04 – Declaring Certain Property To Be Surplus Property and Authorizing The Sale Thereof. Vote:

2012 GMC PICK-UP: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Snyder to advertise for bid the 2012 Pick-up and Boss Plow, with a minimum bid of $20,000.00, in “As Is” condition, proposals to be accepted by mail or delivered to 275 S. Oak Street, P.O. Box 400 Chebanse IL in sealed envelope marked Truck Bid, until July 22, 2019. Vote:

CONCRETE PADS UNDER SHEDS: James informed the Board that several people are asking for the requirement of concrete under a 10x15 shed to be changed to allow just stone. James advised the people they needed to come express their opinions to the Board. No one wanting the change was in attendance. The Board would like to hear from the residents. Tabled until next meeting.

PARKING: Clerk Pasel informed the Board that Kankakee County Sheriff’s Dept. told her that the Village could not tow vehicles that are left in the public parking area located in front of Meyer Agency, Community Building and Uptown Grille without having signs posted saying that any abandon vehicles would be towed. We have only had a few instances with people leaving vehicles parked there. The Board was in agreement that since it hasn’t really been a problem, to just monitor it for now.

BASKETBALL COURT LIGHTING: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Randles to install a light pole and lighting at the basketball court not to exceed $775.00. Vote:
