The Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Bourbonnais Elementary School District No. 53, Kankakee County, Illinois was called to order by Board President Rob Rodewald at 7:01 PM at Administrative Office, 281 W John Casey Road, Bourbonnais, IL.

John Hall, Jamie Freedlund, Rich McBarnes, Jayne Raef, Rob Rodewald.
The following members were allowed by a majority of the members of the Board of Education in accordance with and to the extent allowed by rules adopted by the Board of Education to attend the meeting by video or audio conference: None. No member was not permitted to attend the meeting by video or audio conference.
Public Act 101-0640, allows a public body to hold “an open or closed meeting by audio or video conference without the physical presence of a quorum of the members” during a public health disaster.
The following members were absent and did not participate in the meeting in any manner or to any extent whatsoever: Nicole McCarty.

2.03 Recognition of Staff - Gwen Benson and Pam Perkins
Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53 would like to recognize Gwen Benson and Pam Perkins for the work they have done on the landscaping at Alan Shepard School. They have worked during the school year and over the summer to make sure our courtyard and the area outside of the entrance where our car riders enter looks beautiful. This has entailed hours of work and upkeep. It is greatly appreciated by the Shepard School community.
2.04 Recognition of Staff - Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center PE Department - IAHPERD The Upper Grade Center is thrilled to take this opportunity to recognize our Physical Education Department. In May of 2020 the BUGC PE department was awarded the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award. This award signifies excellence in an academic program or school. Mr Arlis, who has taught at BUGC for 7 years, Mr. Dersien who has taught at BUGC for 6 years and Ms. Gamble who is a 9 year veteran, have been dedicated and are vital components of the entire BUGC experience. We are so proud of the program they have built as well as the passion and professionalism they bring to the craft of teaching. On behalf of the BUGC Administrative team and our Superintendents we praise you and thank you!!

2.06 Recognition of Community - Mr. Brett Wilkie, GP Transco
Bourbonnais Elementary School District No. 53 recognizes GP Transco, a major trucking company based out of Joliet. GP Transco donated 200 reusable water bottles to Liberty Intermediate School. Mr. Brett Wilkie, VP of Maintenance at GP Transco and husband to 5th grade teacher Mrs. Wilkie, helped organize this donation after hearing how his wife wanted to buy water bottles for students in her classroom that did not have one. Now 200 students will have a brand new water bottle to enjoy!
