A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City of Watseka on October 28, 2024, by us at Kankakee Times. The request pertains to unpaid parking violations within the city.
In our pursuit of comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have asked for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid. This includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
As a media organization dedicated to providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from the City of Watseka and will continue our efforts in bringing light to important local issues.
